Assignment of the week: 'Spring'

For me, Spring is one of my favourite seasons. It is when the snowdrops have finished and the daffodils appear like little rays of sunshine. It is when the hedgerows almost overnight suddenly burst into leaf. It is when the weather becomes very changeable, one minute the sun is shining and the next it is showering with rain. In spring the blossom trees are in full bloom with their tiny purple or white flowers and in May the bluebells can be seen in the woods. On weekends the air is filled with the sound of lawnmowers as the grass is given is first mow of the year. In the countryside the lambs can be seen gamboling in the fields. Spring is also the time when the rapeseed is planted and the fields turn bright yellow. It is the time of year when Christians up and down the country attend church to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is when children hunt for Easter Eggs and everyone eats way too much chocolate! I love spring, I love the newness of life after a cold, dead winter.

I have been staying at my parents this weekend and unfortunately the challenge came to late to photograph daffodils as they are mostly dead by now. My parents are fortunate to leave in a village and so to meet the challenge, I took the dog for a walk around the fields and photographed the hedgerows in bud, the apple blossom and the rapeseed that gives my Dad hayfever.
