Assignment of the week: Stairs

The challenge this week was 'stairs'. After typing 'interesting stairs in Northumberland' in the Google search engine I discovered that Seaton Deleval Hall has a spiral staircase. The Hall is a National Trust Property but sadly a fire in 1822 destroyed much of the hall itself. Only the stable and kitchen wings were saved. Within the hall are two spiral staircases at either end. I began at the basement level and started by photographed the staircases looking upwards. I then took shots at various angles of the stairs from the ground and second floor. Finally I took a few from the top looking down. Using my tripod I also took some using various exposures which were merged together for High Dynamic Range (HDR).

A couple of people were interested in what I was doing and stopped to ask me why I was photographing the stairs. Unfortunately my visit coincided with an Easter Family Fun Day event at Seaton Delaval Hall so there was quite a lot of people about who actually wanted to use the stairs!
